Late August we interviewed for our Hospice Manager and are delighted to announce that Mrs Deborah Payton has been appointed to this position. Deborah‘s experience and qualifications make her a ―perfect fit for this very important position and we warmly welcome Deborah to Anam Cara House Colac. Deborah will commence working two days per week with the task of clinically commissioning the hospice for our operational phase.

Anam Cara House acknowledges the support of David Mortimer and his wife Kristine for the Community Hospice being established to serve Colac & South Western Victoria. Anam Cara House President Mrs Diane Wright has paid tribute to the stalwart support of Mortimer Petroleum who came on board as a sponsor via the Hospice’s Cressy Satellite Group at the outset of fundraising some years ago now . Mrs Wright commented that Mortimer Petroleum have a reputation for being great contributors to the well being of the South West Victorian community and for Anam Cara House in particular. Mrs Wright said that David Mortimer, on a number of occasions has provided sponsorship and has taken great interest in the development of the hospice. We are therefore delighted that as a result of his most recent donation Mortimer Petroleum has achieved Foundation Members status of Anam Cara House Colac. It is the actions of people like David and Kristine Mortimer who care enough to “give back” to their own regional community, that has enabled the completion of this vision for a palliative respite care facility in our local region and we are indebted to them both for their generous support.

Anam Cara House is another step closer to opening and has now launched the “Fit Out Appeal” which aims to raise $52,000 toward the rooms fitout. People wishing to contribute can donate amounts to purchase items from an electric kettle to an electric bed. Please use the form below to complete your donation.

Anam Cara House Colac will be holding an inspection day at the property on Sunday the 24th of July between 10.00am and 1.00pm. Everyone welcome.

In a letter of support for a new Palliative Care Australia publication , Governor General, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, Patron of Palliative Care Australia said, “I see palliative care as an assurance to our society, at the deepest level, that we are honouring our value for the worth and dignity of every human being”.

Another recent initiative is our own labelled Anam Cara House wine – launched in February with some very good Savignon Blanc and Shiraz available to purhcase by the bottle or dozen box (mixed available) from Charles Stewart & Co. Very good wine at a good price.

Recently a donation was received following a celebration – it was suggested to guests that in lieu of a gift they may consider a donation be made to Anam Cara House. Perhaps you might consider this for your next celebration?
