Anam Cara House Colac

Merv arrived at 2 o’clock yesterday to Alice Springs. Most of the crew behind him arrived around 3.30pm . Merv dropped a gearbox on the last leg. Got there in the end.
He handed the “Albion 26″ over to the Mayor with about 200 people in attendance.
Lots of interest in the display including all of our local produce.
We made the 2nd page of the local paper (in colour!!!)
Tomorrow Faye Brunt will be postumously inducted to the ‘Wall of Fame’.

Yesterday had a free day in Coober Pedy. Many did tours of the Area including flights over Lake Ayre.
Merv has gone ahead today to make sure he has time travelling between Coober Pedy and Alice Springs. Beautiful blue skys. Should arrive mid afternoon in Alice Springs.

Had a great night last night courtesy of the Port Augusta Lions Club. Simon and Jeanette Brumby (Merv’s daughter) joined the group. There are 3 generations of the Brunt Family on the trip with is just fantastic. Weather is fine. On the Stuart Highway heading toward Coober Pedy. The truck is still going like a “Swiss Clock”.
The Kalari Trucking Company via the VTA have offered their yard at Alice Springs for our to use.

The journey has begun. Merv and Roly Skinner are travelling well averaging 70km an hour.Travelling to Murray Bridge. Weather is nice.

A good group of supporters turned out for the breakfast at McDonalds. A donation of $10,000 was received which is fantastic. Everyone looking forward to the trip starting next week.

A Public “farewell breakfast” will be held in Colac at 9.00a.m. Saturday 14th August at McDonalds for the “Trucking to Alice” convoy.
